Why should I trust my gut feelings?
Why should I trust my gut feelings? I absolutely love this TED talk by Magnus Walker. He tells the story of how his life has evolved by following his gut feelings, and where the journey has led him. I find his story truly inspirational, and it came at the perfect time for me. I have been questioning whether quitting my job is the right thing to do. Some of my friends have expressed doubts about my decisions, and I had begun to question whether my reasoning was sound.
Magnus has inspired me to listen to my heart and go with my gut feeling. Sometimes we need to take a leap of faith, not really knowing where it will take us, but trusting that everything will work out OK. I believe in following my hopes and dreams, and seeing where they take me.
I love this talk so much because it is clear that Magnus believes in the freedom to do whatever we want to do, as well as having a dream of living life to the fullest. These ideals describe how I feel perfectly. I find Magnus’ story fascinating, particularly the parts where he took a leap of faith and followed his gut feeling by applying for Camp America, and later buying a building where everyone else said he was crazy. Both decisions turned out well, and in fact became turning points in his life.
By accident he fell into lucrative businesses by following his gut feeling. He also had a pivotal moment when a film director asked to do a documentary about his love of restoring Porsche cars. It allowed him to sell his clothing company and focus on his love of cars.
Magnus’ story has been an inspiration to many people, including myself. I particularly love his comment that when things feel awkward, that is the signal to know we are on the right track, and to stay motivated and dedicated. He and his wife never asked anyone’s opinion, and just did what they wanted. They don’t have a plan for where they are going, but so far it all seems to have worked out well. I am about to take my own leap of faith and follow my own gut feeling, and hopefully I can also be an inspiration to others in future!
Project 365
I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.
I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.
The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 215 days to go!
