Why is it important to make habits easy to maintain?
Why is it important to make habits easy to maintain? I love this TED talk by Christine Carter. It explains beautifully how I have managed to keep up my commitment to post on my website every day this year. At times, including today, I have started to panic, thinking I won’t have time to get my post completed before my midnight deadline.
I have promised myself that I will post every day. I have not promised that I will have a polished website, or that my posts will be perfect. I am being kind to myself, and realising that my posts don’t have to be perfect. I can always improve them at a later date. The important thing is to get started. I have done that, and I have managed to maintain my commitment for 43 days so far. That beats most of my New Year’s resolutions! I am proud of how I have tackled my challenge. And I am proud to have overcome my perfectionism.
Project 365
I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.
I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.
The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 323 days to go!
Why not check in on a regular basis to see how I am progressing, and what I have discovered?
