What things in your life are you most grateful for?

What things in your life are you most grateful for? I have always been someone who feels quite lucky, and likes to count my blessings. I have a very positive attitude, and an almost childlike sense of wonder at times. My life always has been quite simple, when I come to think about it. It was really only the work side of things that I had managed to over-complicate. I truthfully think that my positive mindset has contributed to my good fortune in life. To an extent, I believe you make your own luck.

Health

Now, more than ever before, I am most grateful for the good health of myself and my friends and family. There are so many sad stories on the news, and even more on Facebook. I know people who have lost loved ones during the pandemic, and my heart goes out to them.

I have promised myself that I will be kinder to myself, and to others. We really need to look out for each other, and look after our mental health. Please reach out if you are struggling, and don’t suffer in silence. It’s good to talk. I am always here if you are feeling low and want someone to talk to.

Relationships

I am so grateful for the strong relationship I have with my partner. We have our ups and downs, like most people, but we can tell each other anything. That level of trust and support is something that I will always be grateful for. I will never take him for granted.

The amazing bond I have with my close friends and family is also something I have huge amounts of gratitude for. There are so many people who are struggling with loneliness at the moment, and I am thankful to have such a strong support network that I know I can always rely on.

Employment

When I am counting my blessings, I always feel exceptionally grateful for the opportunity I have been given to take redundancy later this year. I also feel exceptionally privileged to have been offered a secondment which allows me to work from home until I leave the company. I have made great friends during the last twenty years, and learned a huge amount. I will always be grateful for the opportunities I have been given at work. Now I am looking forward to my new adventure of self-employment, with its many challenges to overcome. I feel this will offer me a great chance for personal development, and I can’t wait to get started.

Home

I love our home, and am immensely thankful that we managed to find it when we were planning our relocation. In particular, I love the area that we live in and our wonderful neighbours. I love the garden that I am slowly building. During the first lockdown I started growing lots of vegetables for the first time in my life, and found that this has become more than a hobby for me. I find gardening very therapeutic and relaxing, so I can’t wait for spring so I can get out there again. What things in your life are you most grateful for?

Project 365

I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.

I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.

The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 347 days to go!

Why not check in on a regular basis to see how I am progressing, and what I have discovered?

I have decided to set up a blog, and to document my adventures in life through it.
