How do I stop myself languishing? I absolutely love this TED talk by Adam Grant, in which he describes the way he felt during the pandemic. with an overriding feeling of stagnation and emptiness.
It perfectly describes how I felt during those months where we were unable to see friends and family, and languishing leads to a lack of focus and motivation.
Researchers have found that the best predictor of wellbeing is flow. If we can immerse ourselves in an activity, we find joy in making progress. Being mindful helps us to focus on the task at hand, and if our project makes a difference to other people then the effect of flow is even more powerful.
Project 365
I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.
I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.
The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, and I have 172 posts to go!
