How can we increase trust?
How can we increase trust? I love this TED talk by David Horsager about trust. Research shows that mistrust more than doubles the cost of doing business. When trust increases, we also see an increase in productivity, morale, innovation and loyalty, as well as a decrease in cost, time and stress. Teams that trust each other share ideas, so creativity goes up.
David explains that there are eight traits that are important when building trust, including:
Clarity – People trust the clear and mistrust or distrust the ambiguous.
Competency – People have confidence in those who stay fresh, relevant, and capable.
Commitment – People believe in those who stand through adversity.
Consistency –It’s the little things—done consistently—that make the biggest difference.
The other four, which he didn’t discuss, are:
Character – People notice those who do what is right ahead of what is easy.
Compassion – People put faith in those who care beyond themselves.
Connection – People want to follow, buy from, and be around friends—and having friends is all about building connections.
Contribution – Few things build trust quicker than actual results.
Project 365
I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.
I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.
The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 190 days to go!
