How can our choice of words affect our results?

How can our choice of words affect our results? I have just watched this lovely TED talk by Andrew Bennett, about the magic of words. Andrew is a magician, and did some research on the origin of the phrase “abracadabra”. Apparently, it means “what I speak is what I create” in Aramaic.

The words we use can either inspire creativity, or destroy it. Words are powerful, and can influence the results we get in life. If we use our words more consciously, we can move towards what we want to create, allowing us to become more innovative and transform our entire life.

Andrew’s trick is to consider words as either creative or limiting. On a personal level, our internal dialogue with ourself can be positive or negative, influencing our behaviour, and our results.

On an interpersonal level we can help other people to overcome their self-limiting beliefs and words.

On a leadership level we can use words to create inspiration and hope, by helping people understand how they can contribute towards building a great future.

When we aren’t getting the results that we would like, we can take time to reflect, and consider whether our internal and external dialogue is getting in the way. We can also paint a vivid mental picture of how we want our future to look, and then document this. Andrew suggests we write about it until it makes us smile, which I think is a beautiful idea, and something I already do. He also points out that the word prosperity means “towards hope”, and I love that the idea of working to create more hope in the world can also ensure we all prosper together!

Project 365

I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.

I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.

The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 243 days to go!

I have decided to set up a blog, and to document my adventures in life through it.
