How can I improve my emotional intelligence?

How can I improve my emotional intelligence? I have just watched this great TED talk by Travis Bradberry on emotional intelligence. It is a skill we can learn to help us understand our emotions and those of other people, and respond effectively. Working on our emotional intelligence increases the flow of information between our rational and emotional parts of our brain.

Having high emotional intelligence is a big predictor of performance. Travis shares his top three tips to increase it:

1 – Get stress under control. Some stress increases performance, but severe stress causes degeneration in the areas of the brain responsible for self-control.

2 – Improve sleep hygiene. This helps remove toxic proteins from the neurons in our brain.

3 – Control our caffeine intake, which will increase our sleep quality.

I intend to do more work on my own emotional intelligence to help me manage emotions effectively.

Project 365

I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.

I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.

The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 232 days to go!

I have decided to set up a blog, and to document my adventures in life through it.
