How can I deal with difficult situations?

How can I deal with difficult situations? I just watched this brilliant TED talk by Jay Johnson about how to deal with difficult people.

Our body is flooded with stress hormones and our fight or flight response is activated when we are having difficult conversations.

We can’t change other people’s behaviours, but we can change our own behaviours and lower our stress response.

Jay goes on to explain how behavioural intelligence can explain, predict, influence and control behaviour.

If we can reduce uncertainty and anxiety it can be very beneficial, as can reward and recognition.

Learning to control our behaviour starts with taking a deep breath to control our breathing, and taking a step back from the difficult situation.

Project 365

I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.

I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.

The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 201 days to go!

I have decided to set up a blog, and to document my adventures in life through it.
