Can we really change the world?
Can we really change the world? This is quite possibly one of my favourite TED talks of all time. Tom Chi discusses how he always wanted to understand how the universe worked. He feels that everything is connected, and he uses his talk to discuss how all the iron in our blood was created by the explosion of stars and the collision of galaxies.
Tom then moves on to discuss how microscopic cyanobacteria were responsible for using photosynthesis to gradually turn the atmosphere into one that contains the oxygen we need to be able to breathe. This also allowed the formation of the ozone layer which protects the planet and allows it to sustain multicellular lifeforms, including plants and animals. We see descendants of these cyanobacteria within the chloroplasts of plants today.
Tom finishes by discussing his concept of the “palette of being”, which is the idea that as we live our lives, we can either use the patterns of thoughts that existed before we were born, or we can use the creative process of mixing things together to come up with something entirely new. This explains how even in this world of seven billion people we can truly matter, and be able to change the universe. We can use our consciousness to drive positive change in the world.
Project 365
I set up this website after deciding that I want to build a more creative life for myself, so I can give up my job and be in control of my own destiny.
I have set myself a goal of publishing an article on my website every day this year, to document my journey from employment to self-employment.
The name I chose was Project 365 because I see this as a year that I have dedicated to learning and self-development, as I countdown to freedom. It started on 1st January 2021, so I have 240 days to go!
